This makes me feel annoyed! he is undermining the premise of the argument - that we do not need to believe in each other's religion to support each other. jews and muslims do not believe that jesus is their messiah - this is the fundamental difference. please do not use .

Well spoken Sam - the two need to turn to Jesus who taught us to love and pray for our enemies. He taught us that we should not use the sword for those who do so will be taken by the sword.

I humbly believe it is inevitable that there will be a lasting Unity among all the peoples of the earth. From my limited research I find the teachings of all the great religions promise a time of universal peace and humanity is (painfully and too often tragically) traversing towards that fulfillment, towards the 'Most Great Peace.' The unifying message at the core of all the sacred scriptures and made most recently manifest through the Holy Writings of Baha'u'llah (Founder of the Baha'i Faith) make clear the stages necessary to attain that blessed state. Principles such as the abolition of prejudice, the independent investigation of truth, the spiritual transformation of the hearts of mankind, and institutions that reflect the rejuvenating spirit of the age are attainable and transcend this sense of 'otherness' that permeates our current cultural map and enhances the surmountable divisions between the myriad wonderful traditions and religions who share this planet.

This makes me feel sad.

The jewish homeland was founded after thousands of years of persecution allowing jews to return to their homeland in an area that was effectively swampland that was left by the British. Within 50 years it has been turned into one of the most effective economies and culture centres in the world. Now, Palestine wants it. No surprises there.

i humbly believe that Jews and muslim can definitly make peace with themselves. We are in the era in which peace and sincere love should unite humanity. This 21st century we are moving to should be where everybody should be allow to practice their different religion without disturbing oneanother. We only need to respect ourselves and see everyone as been equal before the Lord Almighty not minding our different races, colour and ethnicity for our God is love. Its even high time the strong bond among the christian needs to come back to existence(i.e the Jews, isrealites that are deeply rooted in Christ Jesus should make impacts on the Gentiles and bridge the Gaps among humanity for our God is love). We are in the world of mysteries for mysteries where the chosen people of isrealites(Mostly black african)are bringing back the mission work left behind by the great britain(british colony)to the country again. The Faith of our fore-fathers we promised never to deviate from but teached them to all the generation to come is been put aside and that is why we are having all these problems(Diseases, immorality, economic recessions and others)These are what God is using to chasened/punished those He love so that we can turn back to him as a nation. And all the earthquakes, war, flooding and volcanic eruptions are all end of the time signs as mentioned in the word of God.
In short, its high time the two different religion respect eachother and make peace with oneanother in other to allow justice to reign in truth and love in the Land.
thanks.

very interesting-I have worked in a faith school previously (i am not catholic)where my youngest son still attends and has muslim friends.I now work with christians and a Jehovas witness. We all get on well and do not judge or condemn anyone because of their faith.

This makes me feel angry.

First of all the Jews living in Israel at the moment are not the Jews of the Bible!! A Jew is someone from the Tribe of Judah, A jew is not any of the other tribes or sons of Israel,eg a Levite is not a Jew...Secondly the Israelites of the bible were black and not white, many scriptual verses declare this..for eg how did Moses hide in Pharaoh's palace for 40 years has his Grandson if the Egyptians were black, and the Israelites were white? Read REVALATIONS 2v9 and 3v9

Rosie 27 Dec 2010 19:14

Sam Hailes argues that Israel must negotiate with governments who are 'anti-peace'. Surely Israel's violation of Geneva Conventions contravenes the very notion of peace?

Mehmet Turk Saglam 04 Jan 2011 21:16

this topic is about if jews and muslims can find peace what you are saying yes by converting them, this vid is more of a ad then to find a way to find peace

I think it's wrong to put this down to religious differences as it's more political than anything. I'm Muslim and I have nothing against Jews, most of my friends are practicing Jews but I'm against the occupation of Palestine and the state of Israel's Nazi like treatment of the people in Gaza and the west bank.

Get it right, it's Jews,Muslims & Christians against the excesses of Zionism

Paula 28 Dec 2010 09:01

Aren't we forgetting that the Jews prayed to God for a messiah and he sent them Jesus? Now the whole world believes in the Jewish messiah (except for the Jews) Even the Muslims believe in Jesus. God has done his part. Now it's time for the Jewish nation to go back to their scriptures and find that messiah. He is waiting to embrace them. His message was different from that of the Old Testament. No more 'an eye for an eye', but 'love your neighbour as yourself.'

naz 05 Jan 2011 21:23

he supports the Jews? Jews reject Jesus as their prophet and messiah whereas Muslims regard him as a very special and important prophet. Thus this support and love for Israel baffles me. He is very biased in his views and assumes that Israelis are the main victims, he needs to visit Gaza and the WestBank to see where the real suffering is happening. Israel is the real terrorist state.

Tim Windsor Brown 05 Jan 2011 22:07

I think Jesus is brilliant! Since I became a Christian nothing else has satisfied me in the same way, nothing else has given me so much life. I'm not surprised Sam wanted to share it...

Colin Wales 27 Dec 2010 19:27

Sam, when I was just a little younger than you in the early 70's I watched the news one night. One of the news stories was of a Plaestinian family who's house had been buldozed by the Isreali Army to make way for Isreali settlers. Unfortunately, the family's 5 year old daughter was buldozed along with theit family home. The Isreali army spokesperson said that the faimily had been given plenty of notice to quit and they were not responsible for the death. What whould you do Sam if an occupying force buldozed your home and one of sibblings was killed? Forgive them I suppose... Get an understanding of the real politic here Sam. There will never be peace unless and until a meaningful Palestinian state exists.

Religion is what messed this whole thing up, and rather than admitting that fact what is the religious response? We need MORE religion!

If god wants the Jews to have this land then let god come down and sort the problem out!

hanif 14 Jan 2011 18:52

There should be literature and live events about all of the similarities between islam and judaism every where in the world including Israel.
This should lead to a peaceful existence between most jews and muslims.

K 17 Jan 2011 19:57

well presented respects all parties and is fair appraisal. Allows hope for jews and muslims alike. Favourtism does not feel good, but the fact of the matter is we are all given the same invitation by Jesus. Jews and gentiles CAN live together. There is no reason for Christians to not love Jews. Jesus was a Jew and not ashamed of it. I will follow His lead.

kalvin Lewis 21 Jan 2011 03:38

I don't understand the speaker's point of view at all.

The Middle-Eastern problem goes back more than 2060 years from the time General Pompey looted the Jewish Temple. The Jews, Arabs and the Romans were the three distinct communities then and they still are. Herod the Great was an Arab. The Romans destroyed the Jewish Temple in 70 CE, and destroyed entire Jerusalem in 135 CE. The Christians did not whole-heartedly support Bar Kokhba rebellion, because he was declared the Jewish Messiah by Rabbi Aqiba.

Much later Muhammad became a Judaeo-Christian preacher who also believed Jesus was a Messiah. He fell out with the Jews because they did not accept Jesus and slandered Mary (Quran 4:155-156). Muslims later fell out with the Romans, who he had earlier supported against the Jews (Quran Ch 'Romans') because they had made Jesus equal to God.

Thus the tale of the 3 religions is all connected, yet very complex and deep-rooted indeed. For a lasting peace, we must support co-existence and humanity. Sam talks about Jihad. Muhammad justified Jihad in his life time because it can be found in the Bible/ Torah. Look up Deuteronomy Chapter 20- Holy Wars. Even stoning to death of adulterers in prescribed in the Bible (Deut 22). Look up now!

Sam, Jesus said to love our neighbours as we love ourselves.Clearly the Zionist Jews do not love their neighbours.Jesus also said to obey the laws of the land, the Zionist Jews do not obey international human rights laws nor respect the human rights of the Palestinians who have being living in Palestine since the expulsion of Jews after an anti-Roman rebellion in 132"135.Christians are meant to help the oppressed not the oppressers.

Phemy Williams 05 Mar 2011 18:43

In time and with a little studying, everyone will come to know the truth that the original Jews were in fact Ethiopian Africans! It is no mistake that Yahshua aka 'Jesus Christ' - has been described in the bible as having "hair of wool and skin of bronze"! Only a fool does not realise that ONLY Africans have hair of wool and that bronze is dark brown.

It was NOT a HALO around Yahshua's head but an AFRO!!! Also who comes to mind when we are told that the Chosen people would be taken from their land and enslaved for hundreds of years?!

I recommend that you have a look at the following link before recording such misleading clip: I'm Palestinian, I'm totally disagree with your point of view. Please read the history carefully.. More importantly, have a look at the following film: I bet you watch it till its end.. : http://www.channel4.com/programmes/war-child/4od#3164599

Hasan Ahmed 03 Nov 2011 17:14

This annoys me, unfortunately.
Jews do not accept Jesus. They rejected him. And that is why Christians exist. Jesus says 'I have come not for the Gentile, but for the lost sheep of Israel.'
This means he was going to FIX Judaism, aka return it to how it was revealed by Abraham. Not create Christianity, and not make two seperate religions when he was done, which is unfortunately what happened. And if he did not come for the Gentiles, why did the disciples begin to convert the Romans and Celts etc to Christianity, a NEW religion, if Jesus' form of Judaism was the truth?
Our cause is to learn as much as we can and then decide what is true. I was once a Christian. I saw too much flaw. I decided that I would find the original Chrsitianity.
I then found that THIS was in fact the orginial Judaism, the religion of Abraham. And this is what we, the followers of the semetic relgions, should be striving to find out. And so far, I've found Islam the closest.
For instance, when Jesus (a.s) was praying in the Garden of Gethsemaine, where Al Aqsa Mosque is now, before the Romans came to arrest him, it is reported in the Bible that he prayed by performing ablutions (Wuthu, as msulims call it) and then prayed by bowing and prostrating on the ground. This is but one thing that points towards the religion of Abraham, because he also is reported to have prayed in this way.
I think that Christianity, Islam and Judaism should unite and then remove their differences, rather than try to live with them, by finding out their true faith.
I acknowledge war crimes on both sides of this conflict. However, Israel is oppressing Palestine more than Palestine is troubling Israel. Illegal settlements, this attempt to re-write history, as always happens by the victor... And on the Other side, Hamas and other groups are performing acts that we regard as terrorism. But this is the difference: The palestinians are driven to it. It is wrong, but they see no other choice, because of the way they are treated.
Have you visited Israel? I have. Palestinian parts, occupied parts, Israeli parts... The Israeli people are mostly wonderful. The settlers are pigs, however. And the Palestinians are just trying to protect their families.
I refuse to recognise Israel as a Jewish state because Zionism is not compatable with Judaism. Maybe Talmudic Judaism, but I don't see that as Judaism, but as a racist, supremacist, Nazi-like cult based on the inferiority of Gentiles. And I have read the whole Talmud, so do not claim that I believe in some sort of antisemetic conspiracy theory.
Also, The word anti semetic is a bit strange, since most Jews are not Semites, and ceased to be hundreds of years ago. It's also strange because Arabs are also Semites, and so are the few Aramaic groups left.
So why is the term Anti-semetic used to describe a hate of Jews?
I do not hate any semetic religion or a follower of these, but I do hate ideologies like Zionism.
The Christians only have the Jews to thank for writing the Old Testament. In fact, in the Talmud, it shows a horrific ride for the killing of Jesus, and the disgusting, shocking claim that Jesus will boil in a pot of hot excrement in hell for eternity (may God pardon the sin for the men who wrote this).
Sam, you obviously have no idea what it is like in Palestine (I refuse to believe that Israel is nothing but a terrorist organisation. It's funny how you never mentioned the attacks on aid flotillas in international waters or the illegal settling occurring) and maybe you should visit an occupied area someday. I really hope that you find the truth, Sam.

This made me angry. He is absolutely and completely utterly deluded and seriously misinformed.

Slrubenstein 21 Nov 2011 20:32

It is arrogant and obnoxious to say that Jews and Muslims need to find peace through Jesus. For a very long time it was Christianity that brought death and discord to the Holy Land, and for many centuries Jews and Muslims lived in peace without the help of Christians, thank you very much. The rise of nationalism in Europe in the 19th century led to the rise of anti-Semitism as well as Zionism and Arab nationalism. These nationalist movements have created new conflicts between Jews and Arabs. But as there once was peace, so once again shall there be peace, it is only a matter of time. But there is more than enough wisdom in both Jewish and Muslim traditions to lead to a restoration of peace.

Apparently Kansas was promised to the Islamic people in the Koran by Allah as he told them they they are the chosen people. The UN are to be lobbied so that Kansas becomes an Islamic state. Folks who live in Kansas ( the Kansastinians ) won't mind or should just be ignored or pushed out. Russia are? going to back them with money and weapons and support........and the rest of the USA won't be too bothered about it.....

Michael 13 Dec 2011 20:28

the only reason they fight 'terrorists' every day is that because Israel have been butchering the palestines since 1948, and the anyone in their right mind would fight back. This guy doesn't have a clue what's going on down there. What a completely ludicrous position. The way this guy thinks is the same kind of thinking that starts wars. scary.
