Well, the Christian Voice website repeatedly describes homosexuality as 'vile', 'disgusting', 'evil', 'pathetic' and a 'perversion', as well as suggesting that gay men are too mentally corrupt and physically unclean to be allowed to join the police force. Should be a joyous slice of enlightening wisdom and a beautiful representation of Christianity! [Comment originally left on Channel4.com on 29/07/10 at 10:48]

If this was any other subject but sexuality this sort of hate filled message would not be given air time. [Comment originally left on Channel4.com on 30/07/10 at 15:13]

Re tonight's programme, it reminded me why I love this country. We dare to discuss what other countries do not. It does not much matter whether we agree or not. All debate is healthier than sweeping things under the carpet and pretending that we don't think them and well-reasoned debate can even result in a compromise acceptable to the majority. Unless dealing with zealots who take life far too seriously and tend to be the worst possible advertisement for their cause, that is. [Comment originally left on Channel4.com 02/08/10 at 22:35]

Number one, Jesus says nothing on homosexuality . Secondly most Christians who quote Leviticus as source of homosexuality as a sin have not read the actual text, let alone read it in it's original form, i.e. Hebrew or Greek. Whilst they are happy to take into historical context elements of the bible such as clothing, e.g. wearing mixed fabrics (Leviticus 19:19), or diet, shellfish pork etc. Even alcohol and tattoos (remember the body is a temple of the holy spirit). Whilst these are cast aside the notion of homosexuality as a sin remains in tact. Christians know your stuff, you believe in it after all. Also remember human rights, regardless of your ignorance you are condemning another human life, oh and wait there is another one, it's not your place, is it? Hilarious! I love it when people like this use arguments so absurd that they can't possibly be taken seriously by anyone. The only people having kids in the UK are muslim? Brilliant! Comedy genius. What's this 'Homosexual Agenda'? I'm gay and I'm not aware of any agenda, he thinks we're an organised group that get together and plot the overthrowing of the government. He's just as entitled to make that video as I am to write this and to be honest, its too ridiculous to be insulting so I think we should just leave him to it. christians always say 'it was adam and eve, not adam and steve/madam and eve', indicating that god's plan was for heterosexuality only. but then, it was also god's plan according to genesis that we should not wear clothes. the director of the human genome project has written that twin studies show homosexuality to not be strictly genetic, but there can be a genetic predisposition towards it. so i guess it's part nature, part nurture, but it would take a miracle to change someone's orientation (if that were desirable). I wonder, has Stephen Green never heard of Ted Haggard or Haggard's Law? Here's how the Urban Dictionary defines Haggard's Law: "The likelihood of a person harboring secret desires to engage in sexual and/or romantic activities with members of the same sex is directly proportional to the frequency and volume of said person's vocalized objections to homosexuality." Religion: A way of reassuring yourself that your opinion is more valuable than everyone else's because the most perfect being in existence agrees with you.

This makes me feel sad. It reinforced what I already believed.

Homosexuality may be seen ungodly behaviour in some books in the Bible, but if we are truely Christian then of our attitude where the behaviour is admitted should be onepatience, love undestanding and accceptance. All avenues of help from spiritual to psychiatric should be explored. We should also offer and forgiveness and the promise hld out of liberation from te behaviour via Jesus.

Rememeber

1. Jesus reached out to the margianlised within his society, which was what made the parble so so radical (The Wild Gospel: Bringing Truth To Life by Reverand Dr Alison Morgan Monach Books 2009

2. The Bible has more to say wiith regard to pride and selfishness than ioes to Homosexuality.

3:The sexual orientation ia unanchangabled but the behaviour it yields isn't. (Corinthians 6 verses 9-11

I believe that intoloerance of homosexuality is partly what is turning potential new members away from religion. It is the unChrstian approach that potentially denys the church (any church) the skills and talents held by some at whayeverlel purely because of their one part of them.

Emma 03 Jan 2011 10:56

This is ridiculous. Do people not understand that this is homophobia, and it is equally bad as racism or sexism? You should not and can not use the bible, something which is supposed to spread love and tolerance, as a way to discriminate against a certain group of people. It is unfair to punish people for something as innocent and beautiful as love, whether that's heterosexual or homosexual love.

Richard 03 Jan 2011 23:59

This makes me feel angry.

First and foremost: you cannot use the bible as a way of proclaiming homosexuality is both punishable and below heterosexuality because the bible was written in a time that needed pro-creation and for a world full of human prejudice, fear of the unknown and great idiocy. To preach hatred based on the 'sovereignty' of the bible is outlandish because the book is outdated for a modern world.
Science proves homosexuality is a common occurrence in many species, it is just a complex part of our genetic make-up. I'm gay, and I am the same as any other heterosexual apart from that one aspect of myself. We are not here to destroy your society. We want to be together, and love, and raise our own children, and develop our flawed society as much as anyone else.
To attack homosexuality with such aplomb truly shows the negative effects of religion.

This makes me feel glad.

Every word is truth!! If anyone is honest s/he will have to admit it.

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, where are the men which came unto thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Lorna 15 Mar 2011 22:30

"The Gays" ?? This in itself is a ridiculous statement! Never in 1.50 minutes have I ever been so offended. People use the bible to argue points that suit them - the bible also states that you should love your neighbour... People who are gay, different races or religions are all the same. Homosexuality is the same as Racism.... Nothing is right about that!

Anon 10 May 2011 19:17

How can human beings argue that homosexuality is not natural? how can a species that worships an all-powerfull being in the sky, punches a hole in the thing that bprotects him and cull thousands of fellow creatures on an unprecedented scale for small personal gain ever condemn its own for being unnatural?

Sarah 30 Jun 2011 21:19

This makes me feel angry and angry. I don't understand the speaker's point of view at all.

The bible was written in a primative and superstitious age when every child was needed to sustain the species and anything that might disrupt that model had to be discouraged. That was several thousand years ago and times have changed: the human species is now so prevelant as to be a hazzard to every other species on the planet and we need to limit our procreation and grow up! let anyone love anyone and get religion out of the bedroom (why they are still so obsessed with sex says more about the church than about "the gays"!)

Stephen Green was absoultley right that the Bible condemns homsexuality, Romans chapter One in the New Testament makes this abundantly clear " Wherefore God gave them up to uncleaness through the lusts of their own hearts , to dishonour their own bodies between themselves ... and likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the women burned in their lust toward one another, men with men working that which is unseemly"...Verses 24&27. what could be clearer then this?
This is the teaching of the word of God,not mans teaching ;but God's word!
As touching it being hypocritical, choosing to highlight stoning. Stoning was a punishment for Adultery under the "Old covenant" Christianity is no longer under Law but under Grace, we are now under a different order. Under Grace judgment is delayed; its not physical as under the old testament, but its spiritual ultimatley it will be seperation from God (Hell) But now God gives opportunity for repentence, thats why judgment is delayed

gironaut 11 Jul 2011 14:39

The bible is just a big book of Fairy Stories.

How on Earth is this kind of talk acceptable in today's world?! He could easily be talking about women or non-Caucasian people. Humans who support and propagate religious doctrine are a plague on the moral fiber of a Just civilisation. An ignorant, un-educated, insecure, hate-inducing, totalitarian, power-hungry plague whose symptoms are violence, death, destruction and war. As factual, documented history PROVES. Dear religious proponent; you are in no position to judge ANYONE, your belief in divinity has no empirical substance and therefore no universally applicable truth. It is completely flat and exclusively internal. You have no justification to class, label and treat people the way you do. Apologetic religious followers need to either stop being apologetic or cut the final, damned superstitious chord that keeps them from seeing the world IN COLOUR.

we are who we are. and not even god can change that!!!

Yippee. Christian Voice. I visited their website and I have scarcely seen anything as disgusting and offensive in my life. The sheer amount of disregard for other people's human rights, and the homophobia... (I'm not gay but I was appalled) I have nothing against Christianity- I once was Christian, my mother is Christian- but I found the views expressed on Christian Voice shameful.

This is a hate speech in my opinion.

J.D. Farmakidis 07 Nov 2012 09:27

You have to be joking. Did this guy just say it was "Greek slang for homosexual men"?. I'm Greek and I've never heard this bull before. For the record, this is simply not true. Get your facts right Mr Green.

B 22 Apr 2013 20:05

This disgusts me. Gays and lesbians have the same rights as straight people.
