a very good piece tonight from an often unheard community. Sikhs fought with great bravery in both world wars, they are an honourable and noble people

Having served 24 years in the Army, and still serving, I have found terror in terrorism – poverty and starving in Bosnia- beheadings in Iraq – being shot by a policeman in Afghanistan is not worth thinking about.

War is never the solution. Intervention is…. what’s in a name?

I don't think anyone that fights in wars are heroes - at the end of the day there aim is to kill people. Whever the motive seems honourable or not its still legalized brutality.

I find it hard to see justification for wars today because people including children always die or are hurt on both side and after these wars are fought there is the aftermath such as psychological trauma etc which is very often ignored.

The world has progressed in scientific discovery etc however people seem unable to have discussions, show empathy and negotiate to solve issues without resulting to the primitive drive of war.

Who are the real heroes in wars I have to say in my opinion no one...

Mandeep kaur ji, next time before you make a video or appear in public, be kind to display the holy insignia of Sikh religion--the khand. What you adorn on your forehead is not khanda but Chantoda which reflects the Trishul (Trident) of Lord Shiva and a sign of fanatic Hindus.

Personally more of a fan of WW1 & WW2 veterans who've always said they're not heroes rather than today's Help For Heroes glamour #4thought

Saw #4thought the Sikh HM forces chaplain and it totally hit a nerve with my current dilemma about helping others and answering the call.

The Heroes of war are the conscientious objectors who want peace and refuse to use violence. If we all did that - there could be no war. The fact is - it is only because of "righteously violent" people that the rest of us are forced to gave to deal with them. Those in 9/11 who committed atrocious violence have only caused more of it in the world. If all people refused to fight for anything and talked and came to agreements then no one has to die.

Naive but true.

A nice clip to watch, by a Sikh Lady, Sikhs are never mentioned in remembrance in World Wars, despite there being significant records of bravery, courage, gallantries, medals given to the Sikhs by British for their amazing contributions. I learnt only from some of the websites commemorating them, such as Battle of Saragahi France, and a standing ovation in Houses of Parliament for few SIkhs battling thousands of the enemy regardless of odds. Wish there was more said and shown in media on contributions of other communities, including Sikhs else remembrance day is remembering only those selected for it.
I agree largely with most comments below on War in the modern world. It reflects a loss of life both in the soldiers and civilians, its a lose situation. It would be wonderful to have a War free World and use the money on ammunition for feeding the starving, idealistic dream. Lets hope one day we get there. Wars are rarely purely over human rights issues and justice these days, which is unfortunate. Hope Syria and Middle East become more settled.
I wud never feel comfortable with an invasion in the UK. I also am aware of severe human righs abuses by India, but there is no western govt intervening there? Word justice is used to easily.

" The strength of a civilisation is not measured by it's ability to to fight wars, but rather by it's ability to prevent them."

It is hard to stand up and be counted giving views which may cause controversy. I think it has been done with great sensitivity and sincerity and has taken personal bravery. Thank you.
